The Scelles Foundation was established in 1993 by Jean and Jeanne Scelles, who gave all they had to this cause. Before then, Jean Scelles was a human rights activist, developed dialogue with Muslims and was involved in the Resistance during World War II. Since 1956, he has also united lawyers as civil party in trials against pimps.
Having launched the Foundation with Jean Scelles, Philippe Scelles, his nephew, succeeded him as president from 1996 to 2004, after 35 years as business manager and CEO of national and international companies. He remains very active in the development and continuation of the foundation.
A lawyer, was President of the European Parliament from 1999 to January 2002. Before then, she was a Member of the European Parliament and Minister of Industry.
The Scelles Foundation is chaired by Yves Charpenel, Magistrate, Deputy General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of France, and expert on human trafficking to the United Nations and the Council of Europe. Yves Charpenel supervises the World Report on Sexual exploitation and organizes annual international
conferences with the Scelles Foundation.
